IMPORTANT NOTICE
This policy forms part of your rental agreement with Island Escape Rentals.
By accepting possession of any rental equipment, you acknowledge and agree to all terms contained within this policy.
SECTION 1: SECURITY DEPOSIT
A refundable security deposit of:
$150 for Electric Bike Only
$200 for Beach Packages
is required for all electric scooter rentals.
The security deposit may be used toward:
* Late Return Fees
* Recovery Fees
* Missing Equipment
* Cleaning Fees
* Damage Charges
* Administrative Fees
The security deposit is NOT a limit of liability.
If damages or charges exceed the security deposit amount, the renter remains responsible for the remaining balance.
SECTION 2: EQUIPMENT ISSUED
Equipment issued may include:
* Electric Scooter
* Helmet
* Cooler Backpack
* Dry Bag
* Beach Mat
* Backpack Beach Chair
* Snorkel Equipment
* Charger
* Other Rental Accessories
The renter is responsible for all equipment issued during the rental period.
SECTION 3: LATE RETURN POLICY
Equipment must be returned by the agreed return time.
A 30-minute grace period may be provided at the discretion of Island Escape Rentals.
After the grace period expires:
Late Fee: $15 Per Hour
Late fees continue accumulating until:
* Equipment is returned
OR
* The replacement value of the equipment is reached
Repeated late returns may result in refusal of future rentals.
SECTION 4: RECOVERY FEE
Equipment must be returned to the agreed return location.
Examples:
* AUC Pickup → AUC Return
* Cupecoy Pickup → Cupecoy Return
* Maho Pickup → Maho Return
Failure to return equipment to the agreed return location without prior approval will result in forfeiture of the full security deposit.
Equipment left at an unauthorized location will be recovered by Island Escape Rentals at its sole discretion.
Repeated violations may result in refusal of future rentals.
SECTION 5: MISSING ACCESSORIES
The following replacement fees may apply:
* Helmet: $40
* Dry Bag: $20
* Beach Mat: $25
* Snorkel Equipment: $50
* Charger: $75
* Cooler Backpack: $100
* Backpack Beach Chair: $60
* Bike Lock: $50
* Any Other Missing Accessory: Actual Replacement Cost
SECTION 6: CLEANING FEES
Equipment should be returned in reasonable condition.
Normal wear is expected.
Cleaning fees may apply for:
* Excessive sand
* Excessive mud
* Beverage spills
* Food spills
* Vomit
* Biological contamination
Cleaning Fee: $25
SECTION 7: DAMAGE POLICY
MINOR COSMETIC DAMAGE
Examples:
* Small Scratches — $15
* Minor Scuffs — $25
* Cosmetic Marks — $50
Charge: $
MODERATE DAMAGE
Examples:
* Broken Lights — $50
* Damaged Reflectors — $15 each
* Bent Accessories — $35
* Damaged Plastic Components — $60
* Damaged Racks — $75
Charge: $
MAJOR DAMAGE
Examples:
* Frame Damage — $500
* Battery Damage — $700
* Motor Damage — $500
* Controller Damage — $250
* Electrical System Damage — $350
* Water Damage Caused By Negligence — $500
Charge: $
SECTION 8: TOTAL LOSS
Equipment may be considered a total loss if:
* Destroyed
* Burned
* Submerged
* Stolen
* Damaged Beyond Economical Repair
If a total loss occurs:
The renter may be charged the full replacement value of the equipment.
Full Replacement Value: $2,000 USD
SECTION 9: THEFT POLICY
If equipment is stolen, the renter must:
1. Notify Island Escape Rentals immediately
2. Provide all known details
3. Cooperate with recovery efforts
Failure to report theft immediately may be regarded as negligence and result in a full deposit charge.
Equipment not returned and not reported may be treated as stolen property.
SECTION 10: FAILURE TO RETURN EQUIPMENT
Equipment not returned within:
48 Hours
without communication may be considered lost or stolen.
Island Escape Rentals reserves the right to:
* Retain the security deposit
* Charge replacement value
* Pursue collection of outstanding balances
* Report equipment as stolen
* Provide renter information to law enforcement authorities if necessary
SECTION 11: GPS TRACKING
Renters acknowledge that scooters may be equipped with:
* GPS Tracking
* Security Tracking Systems
* Anti-Theft Systems
* Location Monitoring Features
Tampering with any tracking or security system is strictly prohibited.
Any tampering may result in:
* Immediate termination of rental
* Additional fees
* Legal action
SECTION 12: BATTERY RETURN REQUIREMENTS
Scooters must be returned in reasonable operating condition.
The renter agrees:
* Not to intentionally drain batteries
* Not to tamper with charging systems
* Not to modify electrical components
Failure to follow these requirements may result in damage charges.

* Videos
* Repair estimates
* Replacement invoices
* GPS records
* Rental records
SECTION 14: CUSTOMER ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
